Please lean into the joy of organized resistance. There is power in moving together—side by side, in rhythm, and with purpose.Like ants in motion—small on our own, but powerful together—we will move with purpose, coordination, and care. We will follow along our shared path, trusting those guiding us and leading those behind us. Each step, each person, strengthens the whole.Unlike so many of our so-called leaders, we will be guided not by chaos, but by connection. We will be marching 2 by 2 along the sidewalk– Steady, coordinated, and grounded in care.A key part of this action is our shared, collective, uninterrupted, (and undeterred!) movement forward.By centering humanity, we stay connected. By organizing together, we build power.THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED! ¡EL PUEBLO UNIDO, JAMÁS SERÁ VENCIDO!

To keep our march organized, safe, and powerful, we will gather in the following order. When you arrive, please find the section that best reflects how you’re joining us.

Q: I am unfamiliar with the area around the Rosa Parks Bus Terminal. Is there free or paid parking?
A: Public Transit OptionsLIRR Stop: Hempstead
Bus: N15, N31, N31X/M, N40, N6 to Hempstead BranchParking Near Bus Terminal:
- Adjacent to the Hempstead LIRR station: Primarily paid municipal parking fields, metered street parking, and LIRR commuter lots
- All-day street parking on nearby residential blocks (within 4 to 6 block radius)
- Many nearby Lots: (Mix of free + metered)TIPS: Read parking signage! If it says “permit parking” and you do not have a residential permit, please don’t park there. Check the metered rules. Walk from a bit further out if possible. While march leadership is neither condoning nor encouraging parking arrangements, participants may wish to familiarize themselves with available parking options in the surrounding area, including near both the start and end points of the march, as they see fit.Q: How early can participants begin assembling?
A: Line-up starts at 3:00 PM, Kick-off is expected to begin around 3:30 PM. Please be encouraged to include extra-time for parking arrangements.Q: Is the march accessible? What is the nature of the walking path?
A: Marchers will walk 2x2 along the sidewalk. All sidewalks include an entry apron ramp on either end. The terrain is predominantly flat with very limited inclines or declines. If further ADA needs are a concern, we currently have 2 designated vehicles driving those who cannot walk alongside the march to allow for more inclusive participation. Marchers who wish to drive themselves are encouraged to decorate their car and join-in!Q: I’d like to meet-up with a group first and enter the march line-up together, where can I do that?
A: Similar to parking, it is encouraged that groups utilize all surrounding public lots but read signs very carefully. See revisit our reroute map on the homepage. Participants may wish to explore local grocery store lots or commercial sites as potential meet-up locations, or utilize landmarks that are easily identifiable.Q: How long is the march expected to take?
The march is expected to take approximately 90 minutes to complete the full route, depending on the size of turnout and pace of the group. Because we are anticipating a large and continuous march line, timing may vary slightly if turnout exceeds expectations. Participants are welcome to join and leave as needed along the route.Q: What should I bring?
This is a peaceful, non-violent, family-oriented demonstration. We encourage comfortable shoes, sun protection (such as a hat, sunscreen, or sunglasses), and water and snacks to help you stay hydrated and energized throughout the march. Volunteers will provide water to participants along the route. While supplies are limited, we are continuing to gather resources to support and care for everyone taking part.Q: I want to bring my own art but will some protest art be provided?
A: Please bring your best and most creative signage in support of ICE Out of Long Island: March for Humanity, and in honor of International Workers Day.Key Messaging to Support with Signage Inspiration:The Heart of Long Island is Under Attack.International Workers’ Day is a day rooted as much in global struggle as it is in solidarity and the Village of Hempstead is calling on communities from Long Island to New York City and beyond to join the ICE Out of Long Island: March for Humanity mobilization.May Day is about workers, immigrants, organizers, and everyday people coming together to demand dignity, safety, and fair treatment. That history is not separate from this moment, but rather a continuation. Today, the same forces that exploit labor and divide communities are fueling fear and enforcement in places like Hempstead.Stand with us— be it for the general strike, a day of no corporate shopping, in defense of democracy, the end of ceaseless detentions, deportations, and U.S. instigated wars, the demand for dignity of our workers, unions, and immigrants—the very backbone of our society, resonates across our interconnected struggles.International Worker's Day reminds us that this fight belongs to all of us.
The organizers of this march are unwavering in their commitment to conduct a nonviolent action. We trust in our participants to model those same principals through non-engagement or de-escalation with anyone who might disagree with those shared values.
